ILLESSES IN CHILDREN
BIOPTRON Light Therapy can be used in children as a complementary
therapy to reduce pain and promote healing in various
types of conditions, such as :
• General skin disorders
• Childhood eczema
• Atopic dermatitis
• Infections of the upper airways such as common cold, sinus infection, tonsillitis, allergic
asthma, allergic rhinitis
• Conditions affecting muscles, joints and bones
• Juvenile arthritis
• Diseases of the nervous system
ILLNESSES IN NEWBORN BABIES
BIOPTRON Light Therapy can be used to treat newborn
babies, particularly those that need to stay in hospital
after birth (commonly in the intensive care unit).
The
types of conditions which might occur include :
• Inflammation of the veins – after injections,
after infusions of fluids or blood, after removal of
blood samples
• Pressure sores - in babies who cannot move normally
• Traumatic injuries – cuts, abrasions,
bruises
• Skin rash (nappy rash) – caused by yeast
infection in the nappy area BIOPTRON Light Therapy may help to treat these conditions
by relieving pain and inflammation, by promoting a healing
response and by stimulating the immune system.
Skin diseases are common in children; up to 15% of children
suffer from allergic eczema and skin infections (caused
by viruses and bacteria) occur frequently. Skin diseases
can be distressing for children and their parents because
of skin soreness, constant itching, loss of sleep and
embarrassment about the appearance of skin lesions on
the face or hands. BIOPTRON Light Therapy provides a
child-friendly treatment that can help to promote skin
healing and reduce the pain and discomfort associated
with skin disorders.
Younger children are particularly prone to viral infections
of the upper airways (i.e. nose and throat), and may
have around 8 episodes of illness per year. In some
children, this can result in a significant loss of time
off school and adversely effect academic achievement.
BIOPTRON Light Therapy may help to treat these conditions
by stimulating the immune system and promoting a healing
response.
BIOPTRON Light Therapy has been used to promote wound
healing and to relieve pain and inflammation in several
types of conditions affecting muscles, joints and bones
in children. These include various types of arthritis
affecting children, deformities of the spine and/or
bones in the legs and feet, and surgical wounds, and
faster recovery from injuries such as bone fractures,
etc.
BIOPTRON Light Therapy can help to promote healing
and to relieve pain and inflammation in diseases affecting
the nervous system in children. These include childhood
polio, conditions affecting the nerves supplying the
arms and legs, injuries to other nerves, conditions
affecting the spine and brain, and conditions affecting
nerves and muscles. Studies carried out in various hospitals
and clinics found that BIOPTRON Light Therapy was effective,
safe and simple to use on children. Because BIOPTRON
Light Therapy is quiet and painless, children enjoyed
the treatment. Parents were happy with BIOPTRON Light
Therapy and with the results obtained.
A study was carried out in newborn babies admitted
to the Life Support and Intensive Care Unit with various
illnesses (as listed above)1. The babies were given
BIOPTRON Light Therapy for 10 minutes and for 3 or 4
sessions per day. The babies responded well to the treatment
and there were no negative side effects; the best results
were achieved for the treatment of vein inflammation.
Pain was reduced within 24 hours; skin problems improved
within 2 to 3 days. The infants’ parents were
very happy with the treatment and doctors concluded
that BIOPTRON Light Therapy was a good treatment option
for newborn babies.
